OUR GOAL

The EPIC Blizzard girl’s soccer team provides a year-round framework for the determined soccer player committed to her improvement inside a team oriented environment.  Our goal is to provide the instruction and opportunities necessary to compete and succeed at the high school level.

OUR CONCEPT

We strive for our players to improve their individual skills through proper technique.  We want our players to learn discipline, teamwork, and determination from our supportive coaching philosophy.  We teach our players to understand the “why’s” of soccer so that they may solve their own problems on the soccer field.  Attending practice is mandatory to play and participation in off-field events is required to share in fundraising monies, but don’t worry you will find the girls love to go anywhere together.

OUR ACTIVITIES

EPIC Blizzard plays in the ODSL competitive soccer league in Northern Virginia for the spring and the fall season.  Over the winter, we play in the Frederick Indoor Soccer League and in the summer in between seasons we voluntarily participate in “Sundays in the Park”, an unstructured, get-together for all EPIC players and their families.  We plan to play in 2-4 tournaments a year.  These tournaments are typically all day/weekend and within 2 hours of home.  We will also participate in the WV State Cup when our age allows.

Outside of soccer, we also occasionally participate in teambuilding events such as Fun Runs, 5k’s, area high school games, and multiple fundraisers.

EPIC Blizzard is a year round commitment.

EPIC BLIZZARD FEE STRUCTURE

EPIC Blizzard not only has a time and travel commitment, but also requires fees.  Typically the girls purchase uniforms every other year at the cost of $75.  This includes two jerseys, one pair of shorts and matching socks.  EPIC Blizzard does have an additional shorts and sock color set, which would average a cost of $20.  Depending on the funds available, these may be covered by the team.  A soccer bag and warm-up suit is optional, but recommended for team uniformity.  EPIC Soccer Club also requires a $100 fee be paid by each player to help cover the costs of the organization.  This covers the fall to spring seasons.  If a player becomes a part of the team in the spring season, the fee is still $100 and will only cover their spring season.  Currently, our league fee's for ODSL are $685 per season for the team.  Typically, each player will split the cost of this fee.  We do carry a full roster of 14 players, therefore each would contribute approximately $50 per season for league fees.  The tournaments we play throughout the year vary in cost, but EPIC Blizzard has a strong nature in raising funds for these.  At most, the girls will be asked to pick up half the cost of the tournament fees.  They typically will range from $25-50 per season.

TRAVEL

Blizzard players will compete in over 70 practices and over 30 games a year.  Of these games, only 8 will be a “home” game.  Away games can be up to 75 miles away.  Thankfully our practice field is closer, we currently hold Tuesday and Thursday practices for 2 hours at our field in Breckenridge.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Playing time in games is not guaranteed.  All playing time received can be attributable to their level of participation and determination in practice.

Players that make the team at tryouts are on the team for a period of one year.  All players must re-tryout at the end of the spring season.
